On June 11 and 12 ORBA President Roy Denner and Vice President Jim McGarvie attended a meeting of the Desert Managers Group. This group consists of managers from the BLM, Forest Service, military and other interests from four western states.

At that meeting we learned Senator Barbara Boxer, D-CALIFORNIA, intends to re-introduce her bill which would close millions of acres of public property in California to mechanized access. Her staff claims that it will be modified to be more acceptable, but after listening to a presentation on the new bill we remain unconvinced.
